After more than 100 years of development, the automobile industry has become an important and large-scale industry in the world. From 2001 to 2007, the global auto production maintained a steady growth rate of 3% - 6%. From 2008 to 2009, due to the impact of the financial crisis, the global auto production declined for two consecutive years. Since 2010, thanks to the recovery of the world economy and the rapid growth of the markets in China, India and other countries, the global auto production has recovered to 78133500 units. After more than ten years of rapid development, China's automobile market is still in the stage of automobile popularization. According to the Statistics Bulletin of National Economic and Social Development in 2014 released by the National Bureau of Statistics in February 2015, China's civil car ownership reached 145 million by the end of 2014 (excluding three wheel vehicles and low-speed trucks), and the car ownership per thousand people was 105.83 cars per thousand people. Compared with the car ownership per thousand people in developed countries, the car market in China still has a large space for development. At the same time, the auto parts industry will further accelerate its development, and China will become a global auto parts manufacturing and procurement center. In order to improve its competitiveness in the fierce domestic and international market competition, the parts manufacturing industry must carry out large-scale technological transformation.
The basic requirements of the automobile industry for equipment technology can be summarized as follows: efficient, flexible, precise, reliable, environment-friendly complete sets. The demand for machine tools accounts for about 40% of the total consumption of machine tools. The production of cylinder block, cylinder head, crankshaft, camshaft and connecting rod of automobile engine as well as the production of gearbox requires a large number of efficient, high-performance and special CNC machine tools.
